Legislation Could Impact Education

Governor Perdue has 3 bills sitting on his desk that are opposed by the PTA.
  • HB 89 - legalizes carrying concealed weapons in restaurants, transportation, and in public parks
  • HB 1133 - provides tax credit for donations to private schools. This will cost Georgia $50 million in revenue (and limit available education funds)
  • HB 881 - allows states to authorize use of local tax dollars for charter schools (some consider this unconstitutional)
PTA urges you to call/write the Governor (404-656-1776) to veto these 3 bills.

Toomer considering 2nd Pre-K Class

Currently, Toomer Elementary (65 Rogers Street in Kirkwood) is hosting one Pre-K class but they are willing to open a second class for next year, if there are enough interested registrants. Contact the Toomer Elementary front office (404-371-4876).
