CINS

Advocating for the Grady Cluster since 1978

Council of Intown Neighborhoods and School (CINS)

CINS is a not-for-profit organization devoted to advocating for schools in the Grady cluster (all elementary and middle schools which feed into Grady High School) by exploring resources, identifying critical issues and seeking solutions to problems. Since its founding, in 1978, CINS’ mission has been to work with the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to foster the development of high quality schools within the Grady cluster. Monthly community meetings inform members and guests about APS policies and programs, and educational resources outside of the school system. Our “Excellence in Education Grant Program” supports teacher’s efforts to raise the bar of educational excellence by funding instructional programs outside of the general curriculum that stimulate academic expression and thought in CINS classrooms.

Eight monthly meetings are open to the public and include four annual meetings (September-Principals Forum; November-Community Questions to APS Superintendent; January-Legislative Update; and April-CINS Excellence in Education Grants Showcase) and four meetings which focus on topics of current interest to the Grady cluster. Meetings are held throughout the cluster. Be on the lookout for the complete 2009-2010 schedule in your school communications or on our website, www.cinsatlanta.org.

Membership in CINS is open to all who are interested in supporting public education in the Grady cluster. Membership fees are: $5 for School Personnel; $1O for Individuals; $25 for Organizations. Membership forms can be obtained from you local school CINS representative or can be accessed on our website, www.cinsatlanta.org. Please consider giving a fully tax-deductible contribution to support our grants program.
