Health Issues
If your child will need ANY MEDICATION/MEDICAL PROCEDURE WHILE AT SCHOOL (inhaler, insulin, ibuprofen, etc.), you need to fill out this APS MEDICAL FORM and have it on file at the school. Otherwise, your child will not be administered ANY MEDICATION or PROCEDURE during school hours.
FLU and FEVER: Students have been sent home with fevers or flu-like symptoms recently. For the health of everyone, students may return to school only if they have been fever free for 24 hours without medication.
LICE and STAPH are ongoing health issues everywhere. Let the following information guide you:
Going Green
Mary Lin is working towards becoming a Green School. We have a Green Team that is focusing on reducing, reusing, and recycling. If you are interested, contact MARY JO BRYAN.
We have a Community School Garden. On May 26, 2009 Farmer D Organics installed new raised garden beds and planted seeds of nurture with help from teachers and parent volunteers. Teachers will incorporate the Georgia Standards of Math, Science, Literature, and Physical Education lessons through the use of the garden and outdoor habitat classroom area. If you are interested, contact involvement@marylinelementary.com
Thanks to a partnership with Georgia Organics and Avalon Catering we have a Chef to School program for classes who actively participate in the community garden. Student grow and taste fresh fruits and vegetables. Chefs provide hands-on taste testing and cooking demonstrations for students featuring local foods. Cathy Conway is our current Chef. She is the owner of Avalon Catering and a parent of two Grady High School students.
